Roof Replacement

Roof Replacement in Watertown & Litchfield County, CT

When your roof is truly at the end of its life, we install a complete system that is Built to Last — and we tell you honestly if it isn't there yet.

When Replacement Is the Right Call — and When It Isn't

A roof needs replacement when the problems are systemic, not local: shingles curling and shedding granules across whole slopes, repeated leaks in different places, a deck that flexes underfoot, or a roof simply past its 22–28 year New England lifespan. One leak over the bathroom is not that. A patch of wind-lifted shingles is not that either.

Here is our promise: if your roof can be repaired, we will tell you — and repair it for a fraction of replacement cost. About a third of the "I need a new roof" calls we take end as repairs. That honesty is why the other two-thirds trust us with the big job. Not sure which side you're on? Take our Repair or Replace Advisor — seven questions, honest verdict.

The Castle Replacement Process — Six Steps

  1. 1

    Inspection

Dave walks your roof and attic personally, photographs everything, and tells you the truth about what he finds — including if you don't need us yet.

  2. 2

    Written estimate

A firm, itemized quote in writing. No 'today only' pricing games, no surprise change orders for things we should have seen.

  3. 3

    Material selection

Choose your shingle style and color — architectural or premium designer — using our roof visualizer so you see the result before a single shingle is ordered.

  4. 4

    Tear-off and deck inspection

We strip to bare wood and inspect every inch of decking. Rotten or delaminated sheathing gets replaced at the disclosed per-sheet price — never hidden under new shingles.

  5. 5

    Installation

Ice and water shield at eaves, valleys, and penetrations. Synthetic underlayment. Proper ridge and soffit ventilation so the roof breathes. Shingles nailed to spec — six nails where exposure demands it.

  6. 6

Magnetic nail sweep and final walkthrough

We sweep your lawn, beds, and driveway with magnets until they come up empty, haul every scrap of debris, and walk the job with you before we call it done.

Materials We Install

Architectural asphalt shingles are the backbone of our work — dimensional profiles with strong wind ratings and 22–28 year real-world New England lifespans, in colors that suit Connecticut homes. For high-end and historic properties in towns like Litchfield, Woodbury, and Washington, we install premium designer shingles that reproduce the depth of slate and wood shake without the weight or upkeep. Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most residential roof replacements in our area are completed in one to two days. Larger or more complex roofs — steep pitches, multiple dormers, extensive deck repair — can take three. You get a schedule before we start, and we keep it.

How much does a roof replacement cost in Connecticut?

Most Connecticut homes fall between $12,000 and $35,000+ depending on roof size, pitch, layers to remove, material grade, and complexity. Use our free roof cost calculator for a personalized range, then schedule a free inspection for a firm written quote.

Do you tear off the old roof or install over it?

We tear off. Installing new shingles over old ones hides deck rot, traps heat that shortens shingle life, and usually voids manufacturer warranty enhancements. A proper tear-off lets us inspect and repair the deck before anything new goes on.

What is ice and water shield, and do I need it?

Ice and water shield is a self-sealing rubberized membrane installed at eaves, valleys, and penetrations — the places Connecticut ice dams push water under shingles. Code requires it at the eaves here; we routinely extend coverage further on vulnerable roofs because it is cheap insurance against our winters.

What warranty comes with a Castle roof?

Two warranties: the shingle manufacturer's material warranty and our own workmanship warranty covering installation. We register your manufacturer warranty for you and give you the paperwork at final walkthrough. Ask us to explain exactly what each one covers — most roofers hope you won't.
